These rare and beautifully worked earrings are of a type known as baule (box type), shaped in the form of a partial cylinder of high karat gold sheet over a bronze core. The body is divided into three segments with each segment decorated with raised rosettes, these surmount three ivy leaves with granulation. Originally the earrings were straddled by now missing hinged loops at the top of the open cylinder and this has been replaced with modern suspension loops for wearing.

Condition: Missing hinged loops replaced with modern 14K gold suspension loops for wearing otherwise intact and in very good condition overall.
