A Phoenician Quartz Pendant Bead, ca. 4th Century CE

Of gorgeous translucent quartz, hand-carved into a diamond shape and drilled with a horizontal hole for suspension as a pendant.

The ancients thought rain-water and pure snow were essential for the formation of quartz crystal. Even up to the middle ages it was thought to be fossilized ice.  Considered the most powerful healing stone, able to work on any condition, it has been called the "Universal Crystal" because of its many uses. 

Dimensions: Strung on a 16-inch silver chain.

Condition: Intact and in excellent condition overall.
